Save The Arts

Welcome!

"The Arts make us who we are.  We can't change the fact that we want to learn and use our imaginations for everyday problems, and with the arts, it can help you overcome that challenge." (Walt Disney)

The subject of arts education has raised a lot of debate concerning its place in today's curriculum.  With President Bush's budget plan and the changing economic conditions as well as the feeling that the United States is lagging behind other countries in terms of knowledge and education, many art education programs are being cut from today's schools.  Essentialists feel that the basic subjects like math and science should occupy the largest part of the curriculum.  However, many people feel that it is essential that the arts are taught to today's students, resulting in the rise of programs such as the "Save the Music" program founded by VH1.  We feel that arts education is very important in the development of a student's education and that it should remain in today's curriculum.

Mission Statement

It is our intention to provide people with an understanding of the importance of arts education and its place in our schools.  We have provided links to organizations dedicated to arts education that will help to show how you, as an individual can make a difference.

With Bush's budget plans, empty music auditoriums like this one could become an all too common site.
